About The Project

Why we built Vicart.

Why We Built It
01

Why We Built It

The client wanted to move grocery shopping online without losing the trust of customers who expect fresh stock, fair prices and fast doorstep delivery.

The Perspective
02

The Perspective

We treated the catalog, inventory and order flow as one living system so that a single change in stock instantly reflects everywhere a customer or operator looks.

What Was Gained
03

What Was Gained

Operations gained one connected workspace, customers gained live tracking and reliable availability, and the brand gained a platform ready to scale into new stores and zones.

Built To Last
04

Built To Last

The client fully owns a documented, maintainable platform — new content and features ship in minutes, and every surface scales without a costly rebuild.

Project Snapshot

The project  at a glance.

One catalogue, one order feed, three surfaces. Shoppers order from the web or the app and follow the driver in real time, while pricing, stock and fulfilment stay in step from a single dashboard.

The Challenge

The client ran a fast-growing grocery business across scattered tools where catalog edits, stock counts and orders never stayed in sync. Shoppers had no reliable way to track a live delivery, and staff juggled spreadsheets to reconcile inventory against incoming demand. They needed a single connected system that could serve customers on web and mobile while giving operations one place to run everything.

Our Solution

We delivered a full-stack grocery platform built on one shared backend that powers an Admin Panel, a responsive website and a native mobile app. Real-time order events and delivery location flow through Firebase, while a MongoDB and PostgreSQL data layer keeps the catalog, inventory and transactions consistent. Customers browse, order and follow each delivery to the doorstep, and operators manage the entire lifecycle from a single dashboard.

Objectives

What we set out to achieve.

01

One Source of Truth

Keep catalog, pricing and stock perfectly aligned across the admin panel, website and mobile app at all times.

02

Real-Time Visibility

Give customers live order status and rider location from checkout to the moment groceries reach the door.

03

Faster Fulfilment

Streamline how staff accept, pack and dispatch orders so peak-hour demand never overwhelms the team.

04

Scalable Foundation

Build a shared backend that can add new product categories, stores and delivery zones without rework.

05

Scale Without Rebuilds

Grow on one secure, shared backend — add features, new surfaces, and more users over time without re-architecting or starting from scratch.

How We Built It

From idea to launch.

Scroll — each step stacks as you go.

01~2 wks

Discovery & Planning

We start by mapping the catalog, the people who use it, and the way the business actually earns — then turn that into one blueprint the whole team builds against. Nothing is estimated until the scope is written down and agreed.

  • Stakeholder workshops & user interviews
  • Feature map, scope and success metrics
  • Technical architecture and delivery plan
Discovery & Planning
02~4 wks

UI/UX Design

Every surface is designed and prototyped before a line of production code is written, so the flows are argued over on screens, not in a sprint review. What you sign off is what gets built.

  • Wireframes for each screen and state
  • Clickable prototype for the core journeys
  • Design system: type, colour, components
UI/UX Design
03~6 wks

Backend + API

One shared backend serves every surface, so the admin panel, the website and the app never drift out of sync. The API is versioned from day one, which is what lets new surfaces be added later without a rewrite.

  • Unified data model & versioned REST API
  • Auth, roles, payments and media pipeline
  • Automated tests on every endpoint
Backend + API
04~8 wks

Web + Mobile Build

The website and the native iOS and Android apps are built in working increments against that backend. You see a real, usable build at the end of every sprint rather than a status report.

  • Responsive website, pixel-matched to design
  • Native-feel iOS & Android from one codebase
  • Sprint demos on real devices, every two weeks
Web + Mobile Build
05~3 wks

QA, Launch & Handover

Hardened, load-tested and shipped to the stores — then handed over properly. You leave with the keys, the documentation and a team that can run it without us.

  • Cross-device QA and load testing
  • Store submission and production rollout
  • Documentation, training and full ownership

Bringing every part of our grocery operation onto one connected platform changed how the whole team works, and our customers love being able to watch their order arrive in real time. The rollout was smooth, the system holds up during our busiest hours, and we finally trust that what we see on screen matches what is on the shelf.
